Ulus, Bentderesi: From Urban Memory to Living Space

This project aims to revitalize the cultural, natural, and urban layers of Bentderesi, one of Ankara's historical centers, by considering the spatial transformations it has undergone over time. By establishing connections with the Roman Theatre, Ankara Castle, and the surrounding Hacı Bayram Veli area, the project strengthens the landscape's memory. Through topography-integrated grass amphitheaters, artistic wall elements, and urban furniture made from natural materials, the space is transformed into a sustainable public area that supports rest, gatherings, cultural activities, and social interaction. In this way, Bentderesi is reintroduced to Ankara as a multifunctional and living public space, rather than merely a transportation hub.
