Ankara's Memory: Namazgâh Hill
The Namazgâh Hill Memorial and Gathering Area Urban Design
Project reinterprets Ankara's historical heritage with a modern approach.
Namazgâh Hill, one of the city's key cultural landmarks, was once a symbolic
gathering place during the War of Independence. The project features a
monumental structure in the shape of a circle, symbolizing eternity and unity,
offering visitors both an individual and collective experience. The use of raw
concrete walls, vertical monument, and reliefs brings the cultural memory of
the space to life, while reinforcing its function as a site for gathering and
commemoration. The landscape design respects the natural topography, balancing
pedestrian and vehicle traffic. Namazgâh Hill is not just a monument but an
important public space that recalls the past, preserves cultural values, and
transmits urban memory to future generations, contributing to the identity of
Ankara.
