Ankara Gölbaşı Urban Park
An Ecological Breath for Ankara: Gölbaşı Wetland Project
The Gölbaşı Wetland Project aims to restore the existing
natural landscape, integrate it with the urban environment in ecological
harmony, and design it with a sustainable landscape approach. The project
proposes the preservation of existing reed beds, rainwater harvesting
strategies, the use of solar energy, ecological farming areas, birdwatching
towers, viewing platforms, yoga and meditation spaces, aquatic plant gardens,
and livestock circulation zones as key functional elements.
The design is shaped by a holistic approach that balances
rural and urban dynamics while ensuring water and energy management. The site
is structured into three distinct zones: an outer ring (public access), a
middle ring (controlled service area), and an inner ring (a preserved wetland
core). This project serves as a significant example of protecting Ankara’s
natural landscape assets while integrating them sustainably into urban life.
