A Dream for a City Reunited with the Sea: Hopa

(Hopa City Center Concept Project Competition in the Context of a Coastal Settlement: Equivalent Mention Award)

Aiming to revitalize Hopa, which has been worn down by poor planning decisions and transportation infrastructure issues, this project envisions a sustainable, livable, and resilient city by reconnecting it with the sea. The proposed transportation solutions integrate the city with the coastline by rerouting the Black Sea Coastal Road, while a light rail system, bike lanes, and pedestrian-friendly spaces enhance accessibility. Coastal squares, commercial areas, a seaside promenade, and recreational spaces strengthen the city's bond with the sea, positioning Hopa as a key attraction on the Black Sea. The project also promotes urban ecological balance by rehabilitating Sundura Creek and other waterways.
